Foody to Join UCLA Coaching Staff

Jim Foody has been named an assistant at UCLA, according to a school release. He replaces Marshall Nelson, who will remain a volunteer coach while he pursues opportunities as a performance artist. Foody is head coach at JAG in nearby Culver City. Link: UCLA Release

Men's Pan Am Games Team Named

USAG Men's Qualifier

Former UMinn star Guillermo Alverez topped the field at the 2007 USAG Men's Qualifier. Oklahoma's Jonathan Horton was 2nd, while former Stanford star David Durante was third. Current, former and incoming NCAA stars dominated the list of senior qualifiers, underlying the key role the NCAA has in developing the USA men's program. Link: USAG Release

2008-2009: McAllister to Utah

Stephanie McAllister has committed to Utah, according to the athlete's site submission. McAllister is a L10 who trains at Wright's American Gymnastics. A three time JO National Team member, Wright placed 4th AA and won the UB title at the 2007 L10 Nationals. She also tied for 4th on VT and placed 10th on BB at the meet. In 2006, she also finished 4th AA, 3rd(t) on FX, 4th on BB, and 4th on UB. Her highest finish came in 2005, when she won the AA title at the L10 Nationals. 2007-2008: McNaughton Signs with William & Mary

Dina McNaughton has signed with William & Mary, according to a site submission. She placed 12th AA and 3rd on FX at the 2007 Region VI L10 Regionals as a Senior C. She also placed 9th AA as a Senior B at the 2006 Regionals.

2007-2008: Shoji Heading to Yale

As reported in various board posts and now posted on her club website, Monica Shoji is headed to Yale for 2007-2008. Shoji is an international elite who trains at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy. Link: CGA Website
2007-2008: Mirando Heading to Bridgeport

Yvette Mirando is heading to Bridgeport, according to the Record-Journal newspaper. She's a L10 who trains at CATS Gymnastics. In her first trip to L10 Nationals this year, she tied for 29th in the AA and on the BB, in the Senior D group. She placed 10th(t) AA at the 2006 Region VI L10 Regionals. 2007-2008: SPU Signs Jacobs and Snook

SPU has announced the signing of Francesca Jacobs and Betsy Snook, according to a school release. Jacobs is a L10 who trains at Grace Gymnastics (Lakewood YMCA). She recently placed 5th AA at the 2007 Region II L10 Regionals, but did not compete at Nationals. She placed 5th AA at the 2005 L9 Western Nationals. Snook is a L10 at Sunburst in Oregon. She placed 12th AA at the 2007 Region II L10 Regionals, in the Senior C division. She was 42nd at the 2006 L9 Western Nationals and 14th AA at the 2005 L9 Western Nationals. Link: SPU Release
