VISA (US) Championships: Men's AA Title

Former Stanford star David Durante won the Men's title this evening at the VISA Championships. Former and current NCAA gymnasts took five of the top six spots. Many familiar names, such as the Hamm twins and Raj Bhavsar, did not compete on all events. Justin Spring injured his knee on VT on Day 1 and was unable to complete the meet. Shawn Johnson took the lead after day one, with Geralen Stack-Eaton the top recruit, in sixth. Brown's Alicia Sacramone was 3rd on BB but only competed three events. Link: Results
Panza to NC State

Jessica Panza has reportedly committed to NC State for 2008-2009, according to a site submission. She's a L10 who trains at Phoenix Gymnastics in Long Island, New York. She most recently placed 44th AA at the 2007 L10 Nationals, in the Senior B group. A five time L10 National qualifier, she placed 6th AA, 2nd on FX and 10th(t) on BB in 2005 as a Junior C.
Van Dyke to Davis

Erika Van Dyke has reportedly committed to UC Davis. Van Dyke currently trains at Byers Gymnastics, after a prior stint in Nevada at Deltchev's. There is no word on her recruiting website. She placed 9th AA at the 2007 Region I L10 Regionals, Sr. B. In 2006, she tied for 29th AA and 9th on BB at the L10 Nationals, as a Jr. D. Link: Official Web Site

2007-2008: Maaranen Signs with DU

Annamari Maaranen of Finland has signed with DU for 2007-2008, according to a school release. She's a two time National Champion in Finland. She has made the finals at three World Cup events and qualified to the AA finals at the recent World University Games. Link: DU Release

Cline to Washington

Amanda Cline has committed to Washington, according to a site submission. Cline is a L10 who trains at the Colorado Gymnastics Institute. In 2007, she placed 5th in the AA at the L10 Nationals, Senior B group. She also placed 2nd on BB and tied for 6th on FX. She was also 20th AA in 2006 while finishing 29th AA and 3rd(t) on VT in 2005.
Sandusky to Auburn

Allyson Sandusky has committed to AU for 2008-2009, according to a site submission. Sandusky is a L10 who trains at Hill's. In 2007, she placed 12th AA, 7th(t) on UB and 7th on FX at the L10 Nationals, Sr. A. In 2006, she placed 9th(t) AA, 2nd on UB, 8th(t) on FX and 10th on BB at the L10 Nationals, Jr. C. US Men 7th at World University Games

The US Men finished 7th at the World University Games. The only American to advance to the finals was Derek Helsby of Penn State. Also competing were Andre Berry (Minnesota), Vladi Klurman (PSU), Chris Silcox (Illinois), and Tyler Yamauchi (Illinois).Link: Full Results
Ono to BYU

Emiko Ono has committed to BYU for 2008-2009, according to her club website and a site submssion. Ono is a L10 at the Hawaiian Island Twisters. In 2007, she tied for 52nd AA at the L10 Nationals, Sr. A. She was also the Regional alternate to Nationals in 2006. Link: Club Web Site
