Klein Hired as Assistant at TWU

Lisa Klein has been hired as an assistant at TWU, according to a school release. She has served the last three seasons as a graduate assistant. Link: TWU Release

Bencsko to Penn State (W)

Whitney Bencsko has reportedly committed to Penn State, according to a site submission. Bencsko is a L10 who trains at Northstars. In 2007, she placed 44th AA and 9th on VT at the L10 Nationals, as a Senior A. As a Jr. C in 2006, she placed 16th AA and 6th(t) on UB at the L10 Nationals. Link: Profile and Video at GymDivas.us

Zamarripa to UCLA

Vanessa Zamarripa has reportedly committed to UCLA for 2008-2009. Zamarripa is a L10 at the Midwest Twisters (IL). The National VT champ for three consecutive years at L10, she has earned a total of 13 first place finishes at the National level from L9 and up. In 2007, she placed 1st AA, 1st BB, 3rd VT, 7th(t) UB, and 8th(t) FX at the L10 Nationals, Sr. A. She was also the 2004 L10 AA champ. Link: Action Photos at TimelessImages.com

Talucci to Pittsburgh

Alicia Talucci has committed to Pitt for 2008-2009, according to a site submission. She's a L10 who trains at Metzler's. At the 2007 L10 Nationals, she tied for 15th AA, 4th on FX and 6th on VT in the Senior B group. In 2005, she qualified for the JO National team by placing 4th AA at the L10 Nationals. She also tied for 7th at the meet.

2007-2008: Ruggeri at Illinois

Paul Ruggeri, III is an incoming frosh at Illinois, according to a site submission. Ruggeri trains at CNY Gymnastics. In 2006, he placed 3rd AA, 1st FX, 1st HB,and 3rd on VT at junior division of the VISA (US) Championships. Link: Video on YouTube.com

VISA (US) Championships: Men's AA Title

Former Stanford star David Durante won the Men's title this evening at the VISA Championships. Former and current NCAA gymnasts took five of the top six spots. Many familiar names, such as the Hamm twins and Raj Bhavsar, did not compete on all events. Justin Spring injured his knee on VT on Day 1 and was unable to complete the meet.
