2010: Blalock to Oregon State

Kelsi Blalock has made an early commitment to Oregon State, according to her club. The high school junior has committed to a scholarship offer for the 2009-2010 season. A L10 at Gymnastics East, she placed 2nd AA, 4th (t) on UB and 7th(t) on VT at the 2007 L10 Nationals, Junior D. The prior year, at the 2006 L10 Nationals, she tied for 18th AA and took 2nd on UB. She also finished 26th AA at the 2005 L10 Nationals. Link: Gym East Announcement

Illinois (M) Men Sign Four

Illinois (M) have signed four athletes they believe represent a top three recruiting class: Tyler Mizoguchi, C.J. Padera, Austin Phillips and Anthony Sacramento. Mizoguchi is Junior National Team member who trains at the Houston Gymnastics Academy. At the 2007 VISA (US) Championships (Jr Division), he placed 6th AA and was the champ on HB. He also finished 3rd on PB, 5th on PH and 8th on FX. Padera will join his brother Kyle on the Illini squad. He trains at Bartlett Gymnastics. He's a 6-time JO National qualifier, who placed 13th AA in both 2006 and 2007. At the 2007 VISA (US) Championships, he placed 10th AA in the Junior division. Phillips trains at US Gymnastics in New Jersey. A two-time Region VII AA champ, he placed 7th AA and 6th on Rings at the 2007 JO Nationals. Sacramento comes from the prolific Buffalo Grove Gymnastics club. He'll be looked upon for his strength on Rings, where he placed 6th at the 2007 JO Nationals. Alaska Signs Thomas

UAA has signed Jacqueline Thomas, according to a school release. Thomas is a L10 who trains at the Colorado Aerials. This past season, she finished 18th AA at the Region III L10 Regionals as a Senior B. She also finished tied for 17th AA at the 2006 Level 9 Western Nationals. Link: Alaska-Anchorage Release

Fuller to EMU

Amanda Fuller has committed to Eastern Michigan, according to a site submission. Fuller is a National Open athlete who trains at Burlington in Ontario, Canada. She placed 10th AA and tied for 3rd on BB at the 2007 Canadian Championships, in the National Open, 16+ division. She was 20th in 2006.
SJSU Inks Three

Towson Signs Three

BGSU Signs McKinnon and Christman

Bowling Green has announced the signing of Molly McKinnon and Dawn Christman. McKinnon is a L10 who trains at CATS Gymnastics. Competing in the Senior C division at the 2007 L10 Nationals, McKinnon placed 42nd AA. She also qualified to the L10 Nationals in 2006. Christman is a L10 who trains at Ricochets in Pennsylvannia. She qualified for the 2007 Region VII L10 Regionals, tying for 19th place in the Senior A division. She also qualified to Regionals in 2006. Link: BGSU Release

Pearson to Bama

Erika Pearson has committed to a walkon invitation at Alabama, according to her family. Pearson is a L10 at the Tennessee Academy of Gymnastics. Erika has been sidelined due to injuries for the past two years but prior to that finished 19th AA and 3rd on Balance Beam at the 2005 Level 10 Nationals.
ASU Signs Hangartner

Arizona State has signed Stephanie Hangartner, according to a school release. Hangartner is a L10 who trains at the Desert Devils. In 2007, she placed 11th AA and tied for 5th on BB at the Region I L10 Regionals, as a Senior C. She also qualified for the L10 Nationals in 2006, placing 38th in the AA in Senior A. There is no word on the other expected ASU signee, Samantha Miller, who posted her commit on her official website on 7/29. Link: ASU Release

Illinois State Signs Mann and Rowley

Illinois State has announced the signing of Melissa Mann and Stacey Rowley. Mann is a Canadian National Open athlete who trains at Flicka. She recently passed elite screening and will compete at the senior high performance level at Elite Canada in December. She graduated high school in May 2007. She placed 9th AA and tied for 3rd on BB at the 2007 Canadian Championships, National Open 16+. Rowley is a L10 who trains at SIGS (Southern Indiana Gymnastics School). She was 9th AA at the 2007 Chicago Style Meet. Link: ISU Release

Carlton to Centenary

Lauren Carlton has signed with Centenary, according to the coaching staff. Carlton trains at Let It Shine in Tennessee. She finished 9th AA at the Level 9 TN State Championships.
Yaros to Illinois-Chicago

Danielle Yaros has signed with UIC, according to her family. Yaros is a L10 who trains at Northeast Gymnastics in Pennsylvania. She tied for 8th AA and the 1st alternate to Nationals at the 2007 Region VII L10 Regionals, Senior B. She was also 13th AA at the 2006 L10 Regionals, and was the state champ on FX. Hardy to Cornell

Kaitlyn Hardy has reportedly committed to compete for Cornell next season. Hardy is a L10 at the Parkettes. She was 16th AA and 4th(t) on FX in the Senior B group at the 2007 Region VII L10 Regionals. In 2006, she placed 27th AA at the L10 Nationals, in the Jr. D group. YouTube.com Video
Szakal to Central Michigan

Emma Szakal has signed with Central Michigan, according to a site submission. Szakal is a L10 who trains at the Parkettes. This past season, she finished 52nd AA at the 2007 L10 Nationals, in the Senior B group. She also qualified to the 2006 L10 Nationals, and was the UB at the Region VII L10 Regionals that year. Kentucky Signs Five

Kentucky has signed Andrea Mitchell, Storey Morris, Whitney Rose, Madison Snowden and Jennifer Taylor. The commits of Mitchell, Morris, Snowden and Taylor were covered in previous news items. There is no mention of the expected early entry in January 2008 of Mitchell or Snowden. Rose is a current L10 at Kurt Thomas. She is also a former jr. national elite qualifier who finished 3rd AA at the 2004 US Challenge. She also tied for 11th AA and 4th on FX at the 2004 L10 Nationals. Link: UK Release
