Tokyo Olympics: Event Finals, Day 1

Former Utah Ute MyKayla Skinner won a silver on VT while Auburn's incoming Olympic Champion Suni Lee won the bronze on UB to lead the US. 

Dr. O'Dell is a long time coach and judge.

EMU announced the signing of Gianna Antonio, Cassie Bergin, Alana Fisher, and Emma Lewis.  All of these athletes made early commitments that were previously covered here.

2022-23 Carla Ferzoco to Pitt

Carla Ferzoco from Elite Gymnastics Academy has committed to Pitt.  In 2019 she finished 4th AA at the L9 Eastern Championships.  This season she qualified to L10 Nationals and placed 34th AA

Tokyo Olympics: Women's AA Final

Incoming Auburn Frosh Sunisa Lee won the Gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, holding off Brazil's Rebeca Andrade for the win.  Angelina Melnikova was third.  Oregon State's Jade Carey was 8th and UCLA's Brooklyn Moors (CAN) was 16th.

Tokyo Olympics: Men's AA Final

Joy in the host country and the young Japanese Daiki Hashimoto won the Gold in the AA.  He turns 20 in just a few weeks.  China's Xiao Ruteng won the silver with Nikita Nagornyy won the bronze.  Stanford's Brody Malone of the US placed 10th, with former Michigan star Sam MIkulak in 12th.

Tokyo Olympics: Women's Team Final

Led by Auburn incoming frosh Suni Lee, the US won the silver medal in the Women's Team Final.  The team formed by the Russian Olympic Committee placed first.  The US was without the services of star Simone Biles, who shockingly pulled out of the competition after the first event.  In her absence, Lee added FX and UCLA signee Jordan Chiles competed AA, along with incoming Ute Grace McClaughlin.  The UK won the bronze medal.  That squad included Ute commit Amelie Morgan.

Tokyo Olympics: Men's Team Final

The Russia Olympic Committee squad edged host Japan by 0.103 to score the win the Gold in the team finals of the Tokyo Olympics.  China finished 3rd, with the US in fifth.   The US had problems on FX, helping the UK surpass the American squad.

Tokyo Oympics: Women's Preliminaries

Simone Biles and Auburn incoming frosh Sunisa Lee placed 1st and 3rd in the AA but numerous mistakes led the US to a 2nd place finish in the team prelims.  Lee qualified to the event finals in the AA, UB and BB.  Oregon State's Jade Carey qualified to the finals on VT and FX.

2023-24 Ava Jorgensen to BYU

Ava Jorgensen from Gold Medal Gymnastics has committed to BYU.  This season she finished 3d AA at both her state and her regional meet.  She placed 7th AA at L10 Nationals.

WOGA's Sophia Stephens has committed to Arizona.  She qualified to JOs in 2019.  In 2021, she qualified to regionals and finished 14th AA.

Tokyo Olympics: Men's Preliminaries

The US Men's team qualified in fourth place for next week's team.  They were led by Stanford's Brody Malone.  Malone, the NCAA and US National champion qualified to the HB final and the AA final (in 9th position).  Former NCAA Champ and Michigan great Sam Mikulak qualified to the AA final and to the PB final.  Former OU Sooner and NCAA Champ Yul Moldauer qualified to the FX final (with a 9.066 E score) while former Ohio State star and specialist Alec Yoder qualified 4th to the PH final (but just a 0.066 out of first).  Minn grad Shane Wiskus is the first alternate on FX, the event where the US finished 1st in the team prelims.  Also making the event finals on HB was former Illini Tyson Bull, who is from Australia.
