Jay Ramirez named Head Coach at Towson

Ramirez held coaching positions at Towson in the past as well as club level coaching positions.

To kick off the fall training season, the NCAA has released the 2019-2021 Code Modifications for Women's Gymnastics.  This set of rules modifications features a series of new changes, including a reduction in the base Start Value of routines on uneven bars, balance and the floor exercise from 9.5 to 9.4.  (This article has been expanded and updated since the original publication)

The college search for athletes is an enduring process with a definite starting and ending point. Just like a well-run race, the successful student-athlete will remain focused until she breaks the tape. Below are some simple tips to consider when heading down the homestretch in the college recruiting process.

Former NCAA champ and Michigan star Sam Mikulak built a commanding lead at the US Men's World Championships selection meet.  The meet features 7 of 8 former or current NCAA gymnasts.  Former Stanford star and NCAA champ Akash Modi is 2nd, while current Gopher Shane Wiskus is third.

2020-21 Chloe Asper to WVU

Chloe Asper from Hanover Gymnastics has committed to WVU.  Her 6th place regional finish last season qualified her to JOs and she finished 31st AA

2019-2020: Amoree Lockhart now committed to DU

Amoree Lockhart had previously announced her commitment to OU.  She will now graduate early and join DU for the 2020 season.

2020-21 Olivia Lynd to NIU

Olivia Lynd from Perfection Gymnastics has committed to NIU.  Last season she placed 4th AA at her state meet and 12th AA at regonals.

2021-22 Alana Anderson to NIU

Alana Anderson from Aspire Gymnastics has committed to NIU.  Last season she placed 5th AA at her state meet and competed three events at regionals.

As the teams report back to campus, they will welcome their newcomers and begin to tackle new challenges.  With the Fall training season upon us, the teams will be hard to bolster their lineups and recover from their losses.  At the same time, they'll be working to refine changes and upgrades to their routines (if at all) that will be required under the 2020 NCAA Code Modifications.  Here's a quick summary of who's departed and who's new at the Top 25 programs, and a quick summary of the resulting challenges.

2020-21 Simone Evans to Lindenwood

Simone Evans from Gymnastics Academy of Georgia has committed to Lindenwood.  She qualified to regionals last seasona and finished 12th AA.

2021-22 Megan Ray to UC Davis

Megan Ray from  South Coast Gymnastics has committed to UC Davis.  Last season she placed 1st on beam at regionals and went on to place 12th AA at JOs.

2021-2022: Zois to GWU

Sarah Zois, a L10 at Docksider's, has committed to GWU for 2021-2022 according to a site submission.  She placed 9th AA at the Region VII L10 Regionals in 2019.  She also was 8th AA and 3rd on VT at Regionals in 2018.

2021-2022: Gard to UC Davis

Allie Gard, a L10 from Crenshaw Athletic Club, has committed to UC Davis for 2021-2022, according to her Instagram.  She was 4th AA at the 2019 Texas L10 State meet.  She also qualified to the the JO Nationals in 2018.

MSU has announced the addition of Whitney Snowden and Brittany Webster to the coaching staff.  Snowden is a former head L8-L10 coach at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy and USAG vault clinician.  Webster is a former standout at Auburn who has been a head coach and program director at Cypress Pointe in Louisiana.
