Stanford won the NorCal Challenge Sunday afternoon, defeating North state rivals Cal, UC Davis, San Jose State and host Sacramento State.  Stanford was led by Kristina Vaculik's meet-high 9.875 UB win.  Teammates Melissa Chuang, frosh Sophia Lee, and Cal's Serena Leong tied for the vault title.  Another teammate, Taylor Rice, tied for the FX title with UC Davis' Stephanie Stamates, SJSU's Julia Greer, and Cal's Alicia Asturias.  Asturias took the AA title (39.175) and tied for the beam title with Stanford's Amanda Spinner, Greer, and Sac State's Kailey Hansen and Kalliah McCartney.

PSU 193.925 at ISU 193.55

Penn State used an advantage on vault and FX to hold off the hosts.  They were led by LSU transfer Randi Lau, who won vault.  ISU's Caitlin Brown won the AA with a 38.9; she also tied for the beam title with teammate Alex Marasco.  Teammate Henrietta Green won the UB with a 9.825 and tied for the FX title with teammate Milan Ivory.

UW Eau Claire 180.2 at CMU 194.45

CMU swept at least the top four places in every event to an impressive 194.45 opening tally.  Four different Chippewas claimed an event victory:  Brittany Petzold on Vault, Karlee Teet on UB, Taylor Noonan on BB, and Halle Moraw with a meet-high 9.875 on FX.

Ball State 189 at Illinois State 188.95

Illinois State's Samantha King won the AA with a 39.0.  King also won the BB and FX.  For Ball State, Erin Patchey won the vault while teammate Angela Durkac tied with Illinois State's Jenna Bossle for the UB title.

2015-16 Lyons to Ball State

Skyler Lyons, L10 at Balance Institute in Illinois, has committed to Ball State.  Last season she finished 7th AA at her state meet and qualified through regionals to a 14th place finish at the NIT.

UW La Crosse 181.775 at UW Oshkosh 179.95

The season kicked off with UW La Crosse's win over host UW Oshkosh on Friday night.  Kari Willett won the vault and beam to lead the Eagles, while teammate Ali Berry won the floor exercise.  Oshkosh's Stefanni Meusburger won the UB.

2014-15 Drouin-Allaire to GWU

Camille Drouin-Allaire, L10 at Gold Medal in N.Y., has accepted a scholarship offer from George Washington.  Last season she finished 5th AA at her state meet and she was named vault champ at regionals (6th AA) and she qualified to JOs.

2015-16 Chan to UNC

Kelsey Chan, L10 at Waller's in California, has committed to UNC.  Last season Kelsey finished 5th AA at her state meet, 7th AA at regionals and qualified to JOs.  In the 2011 season, she was the NIT vault champ.

For the 2014 edition of our ranking of the Top Recruiting Classes, we've had to wait until the last minute to make our decision.  "Recruiting" now has an entirely new definition.  Some of the athletes in our rankings originally selected their colleges over three years ago.  But more than few made their decisions within the last six to nine months.  In this age of early recruiting, a lot can change in the three final years of high school and during the first year of competition.  Thus, we're also seeing the emergence of a lively late recruiting period and early entries into college as scholarships become available late in the cycle.  This factor has even impacted our choice of the top team in our rankings.  Read on to find the answer...
