2011-2012: Capone to Temple

Lauren Capone, a L10 at Spirit Gymnastics, has committed to compete for Temple next season, according to her family.  She qualified to the 2010 Region VII L10 Regionals in the Senior A division.  As a L9 in 2009, she was 12th AA, 3rd on VT and 3rd on FX at the Region VII L9 Regionals.

Ohio State (M) Name Huntwork as Assistant

Ohio State has hired former Buckeye Dick Huntwork as an assistant to the Men's program. He currently coaches at the Hocking Valley Sports Center.  He will supplement the interim Head Coaches following the departure of Miles Avery, which was announced last week.

NLI: Illinois (M) Sign Wilson

Joshua Wilson has signed with Illinois for 2011-2012, according to a school release.  He is a three time US National Team member and finished 1st at JO Nationals in 2006.  Now at Elite Champion gymnastics, he tied for 41st AA in the preliminaries at the 2010 JO Nationals.

A few early season L10 results have been posted

If you're interested in following the L10/elite signees and recruitables (16+) this season, you will find their club results posted under the "Results" tab at the top of the front page.  Select 2010-11 to view just this season's results. 

It's very early for the L10s, but we expect to post at least a few more results through December.  The season picks up in earnest in January and results will be posted as we find them.  If you don't see a link to your favorite meet, email us.

NLI: USU Signs Three

Utah State has announced the signing of Breyanna Aufiero, Sarah Landes, and Kristen Meyers.  The commits of Aufiero and Landes were covered in prior news items. In the release, USU Head Coach Jeff Richards noted, "I am very excited about our 2011 class. This class will have an instant impact on the team and will compliment the 2010 freshmen class very well. They have strong academics, strong gymnastics and a strong work ethic". 

Meyers is a L10 at EDGE in Missouri.  At the 2010 L10 Nationals, she placed 43rd AA in the Senior B division.

NLI: Morgan Cook signs with UAA

Morgan Cook, L10 from Hot Springs Arkansas, signed to compete for the University of Alaska Anchorage next year. Cook was one of three gymnasts who tried out for the team's last available scholarship and she put on a demonstration for the UAA coaches that earned her the spot.  She placed 15th AA at her regionals meet last year.

NLI: Michigan (W) Signs Three

Michigan has announced the signing of three to letters of intent:  Annette Miele, Sachi Sugiyama, and Morgan Steigerwalt.  Says Head Coach Bev Plocki, "These athletes make up one of our solidest classes in years.  All three can contribute on every event their freshman year and two have elite experience. We're excited for the future."

2011-12 Hoffman to Brown

Danielle Hoffman, L10 at Dynamic Gymnastics in New York, as signed with Brown according to a small annoucment in her local paper.  Brown placed 5th AA and 1st on vault at her 2010 regional meet and qualified to JO Nationals.

NLI: Western Michigan Signs Two

Western Michigan has inked two gymnasts for 2011-2012, Michelle Adams and Shelby Pflug.  Adams' commitment was covered in a prior news item.  Pflug is a L10 who trains at Aerials Gymnastics in Illinois. She placed 18th AA at the 2010 L10 Nationals, Senior B.  She also finished 5th on VT and 21st AA at the 2009 Region V L10 Regionals.

NLI: SEMO Signs Pair

Southeast Missouri has signed a pair of gymnasts, as expected.  Arielle Bulls and Taylor Huey have signed on to start in 2011-2012.  Head Coach Kristi Ewasko added, "As we continue to push our team and goals to new levels, it is imperative that we add committed and dedicated young women to our program.  With Arielle and Taylor, we have done just that.”
