DU 194.775 at SEMO 194.075

DU held off host SEMO 194.775 to 194.075, in action broadcast live on local TV.  Louise Mercer led Denver, winning the AA with a 39.05 and capturing the FX.  Teammate Taylor Sanford won the BB.  For SEMO, Brianna Gaddie won VT and teammate Christina Sundgren won the UB.

Men's: Springfield 327.5 at Army 330.9

Army defeated Springfield, as junior Chase Brown picked up a pair of wins on VT and HB.  Teammate Tim Tieng won PH while teammate Kip Webber won Rings.    Ty Evans won the AA and PB for Springfield, while teammate Jimmy Pezzino won FX.

Penn State 195.3, NC State 194.075 at Florida 197.5

Florida posted an NCAA high 197.5 in an impressive win over NC State and PSU.  Alaina Johnson led the Gators, winning the AA with a 39.6, including a pair of 9.95s in wins on VT and UB, plus a 9.925 win on the FX.  Teammate Ashanee Dickerson posted a 9.975 to win BB.

UGA 195.55 at Kentucky 195.0

Georgia defeated Kentucky, posting a 195.55 in the road contest.  Kat Ding led UGA with a solo win on the UB.  Teammates Cassidy McComb, Christa Tanella, and Shayla Worley tied for the UB title.   For Kentucky, Phylicia Reshard won the AA with a 39.25, tying for the FX title with teammate Jasmine Minion.  Teammate Whitney Rose won the VT.

UPDATED: Kathryn Mahoney's Condition

As reported earlier, MSU's Kathryn Mahoney suffered a recent spinal injury.  It is now reported that she remains paralyzed from the neck down, but there is hope that she will continue to regain some function according to published reports.  Our thoughts are with Kathryn, her family and her team.

Those interested in making a contribution to her support fund can donate via several methods outlined in the link below.  You can also send her your well wishes to her rehabilitation facility in Chicago.

2011-12 Brittany Marcsisin to Pitt

Brittany Marcsisin, L10 from Arena Gymnastics in Hamilton, NJ, has committed to join the University of Pittsburgh this fall.  Her 2010 season was highlighted by a 2nd AA finish at the Robin Cone Memorial meet and a 3rd AA finish at the Long Island Classic.  She recently competed two events at the Star Struck Invitational, finishing 2nd on V.

2011-12 Weyrauch to Cornell

Corinne Weyrauch, level 10 from Midwest Gymnastics in Minnesota, has committed to Cornell University. Corinne is in the Class of 2011 and currently has a class rank of 18th out of 737 students at Champlin Park High School. She qualified to the 2010 Minnesota State Championships where she placed -11th FX (9.175), 34.65 AA and also qualified to the 2010 Region IV Championships where she placed -10th AA (34.6), 6th FX (9.2)

2011-12 Stych to USAF

Alexandra Stych, Level 10 from Midwest Gymnastics, Little Canada, MN, has committed to the US Air Force Academy according to her gym. She is in the class of 2011. In 2009, she qualified as first alternate to the USAG JO Nationals in Seattle, WA competing in the NIT(13th AA). In 2010, she competed at the USAG JO Nationals in Dallas, TX finishing 47th AA (18T FX). She is coached by Jess Graba and Ali Lim.

Men's National Rankings for the Week of January 24th

Stanford, after a huge score this weekend, takes over the top spot in the Troester GymInfo Men's Rankings this week.  Cal's Dennis Mannhart is the top AAer after his debut this weekend.  OU's Jake Dalton claims the lead on FX and PB.  Ty Echard of Ohio State is first on PH, while teammate Brandon Wynn is the top Ring man.  Stanford's Eddie Penev leads the vault after this weekend's competition, while Paul Ruggeri of Illinois remains on top of the HB standings.

Women's National Rankings for the Week of January 24th

Florida tops the Women's National Rankings for the week of January 24th, according to the weekly Troester GymInfo poll.  Florida also leads the standings on vault, uneven bars, and the floor.  Stanford is the top balance beam squad.

UGA frosh Lindsey Cheek takes over the top AAer spot, as she hit a 39.55 in her first AA this past weekend.  She is also the top UB worker.  On VT, Utah's Kyndal Robarts holds the top spot, although she did not compete this weekend due to injury.  Stanford's Ashley Morgan leads the FX rankings.  On BB, UCLA's Olivia Courtney, Oregon State's Leslie Mak and SUU's Alyssa Click are tied for the top spot.

UNH 193.76 at Pitt 192.65

New Hampshire downed Pittsburgh, 193.75 to 192.65, in action early Sunday evening.  UNH picked up individual wins from Courtney Conners in the VT, Danielle Riebold on the UB, Austyn Fobes on the FX and Chelsea Steinberg in the AA.  Pitt's Alicia Talucci won BB to prevent the sweep.

UCLA 194.825 at Stanford 196.2

Stanford defeated UCLA, pulling away in the last rotation as the Bruins struggled on BB.  Stanford was led by Shelley Alexander, who won the BB and the AA with a 39.35.  Teammate Ashley Morgan topped off the victory with a winning 9.925 score while in the anchor spot on FX.  Teammates Allyse Ishino and Alyssa Brown tied with UCLA's Aisha Gerber for the UB title.  UCLA's Tauny Frattone won the VT.

OU 196.175 at TWU 193.05

OU rebounded from their meet Friday to tie their season best at 196.175, to beat host TWU's season-best 193.05 (a jump of 2.425 points).  For the Sooners, Kayla Nowak and frosh Madison Mooring picked up a pair of wins.   Nowak won the UB and tied with teammate Megan Ferguson for the FX title.  Mooring won the BB and tied with teammate Sara Stone for the FX title.  OU Coach KJ Kindler earner her 100th career win.

CMU led the state of Michigan to a victory over the state of Illinois in an inaugural Illinois vs. Michigan meet.  CMU was led by Andrea Delagarza, who won the VT and BB en route to a 39.075 AA win.  Teammate Kristin Teubner won the FX.  UIC's Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette won the UB.
