Joanna Sampson led the Wolverines, winning her first career AA title with a 39.3. She also won shares of titles on the bars (with teammate Brittnee Martinez) and the floor (with teammate Reema Zakharia). Michigan frosh Sachi Sugiyama won the vault while WVU's Hope Sloanhoffer won the BB.

Many of the top men in the NCAA are at USA Gymnastics' Winter Cup. The Men's Winter Cup preliminary leader is John Orozco. Former OU star Chris Brooks is in 2nd, with former Ohio State star Brandon Wynn in fourth and another former Sooner, Steven Legendre, in fifth. Illini Paul Ruggeri in 7th is the top AA from a current NCAA squad.

Madison Kremer a level 10 from Aerial Gymnastics club in Downer's Grove, Illinois has verbally committed to TWU for the 2012-2013 season. Last season she finished 11th AA at her state meet and competed just one event at regionals. She recently competed two event at Circle of Stars.
Megan Delallo, L10 at Byers in California, and Alex Yacalis, L10 from Southern Tier in New York, have committed to Washington for the 2013-14 season.
Delallo qualified to JOs in 2010, finishing 24th AA. This season she won the Delta Classic while picking up three event wins on vault, bars and floor. She recently won her session of the PKI and took first place on vault, bars and floor.
Yacalis recently placed 5th AA at the Maryland Classic and 7th AA at the PKI.
Maddy Scozzie, L10 at Apex Gymnastics in Va., will compete for SUNY Cortland.
We're now about a month into the season and we've already seen some early trends emerge. Here's a quick recap of our impressions of the season thus far...
Alexa Goldberg, L10 from Central Bucks in Pa., has committed to WVU. Last season she finished 2nd AA at her state meet; 3rd AA (1st UB) at regionals; and 15th AA at JO Nationals. She started out this season with an all around win at the Hills Maryland Classic.
OU remains #1 in this weeks rankings, with Illinois close behind in the #2 slot.
OU's Jake Dalton leads the floor and AA. Cal's Glen Ishino tops the PH rankings, while PSU's Scott Rosenthal is the top ring man. Stanford's Sean Senters holds the top vault spot, while Michigan's Syque Caeser is first on PB. Illini Paul Ruggeri holds reign over the high bar.

Madison Kilchrist, L10 at Champions in Texas, has commited to Denver. So far this season she competed two events at the Ricky Deci meet and placed 6th AA at the Alamo Classic.
Utah rises to #1 while Arkansas slips to #2 in this week's ranking. Florida, after their big win this weekend, rises to #3. Former co-number one UCLA drops to seventh.
Individually, Alaina Johnson of Florida takes over the top spot in the AA standings. Bama's Ashley Sledge is the top vaulter, Oregon State's Leslie Mak the top beamer, and Jaime Pisani of Arkansas the top floor worker. Three athletes are tied for the top spot on bars: Mariah Howdeshell of Arkansas, Morgan Evans of UNC, and Janelle Giblin of NU.
Ryann Anderson, L10 at Southeastern Gymnastics in N.C., has committed to Air Force. Last season she finished 2nd AA (1st BB) at her state meet and qualified to regionals where she placed 14th AA. So far this season she has placed 2nd AA (1st BB) at The Gala and 11th AA at the Sand Dollar.
William and Mary defeated the club program at James Madison to win the State Open. They amassed a 316.5.

UNC posted a win in their home opener, defeating William and Mary. Morgan Evans led the way for UNC, winning the AA (38.625), UB (where she led the Nation last week) and tying for the FX title with teammate Kristin Aloi. Teammate Zoya Johnson won the VT and the BB.

WMU posted the second highest score in team history. For the Broncos, Caroline O'Brien won the UB while Michelle Adams took the FX and Taylor Zondervan, the AA (38.95). BGSU's Jamilah Ali won the beam while three teammates tied for the vault title: Lacey Swords, Dawn Christman and Danielle Wishart.

WVU rolled to a season-high in their home victory. For the Mountaineers, Nicole Roach won the UB and tied for the BB title with teammate Kaylyn Millick. WVU's Alaska Richardson won the floor and tied for the vault title with teammate Hope SloanHoffer. SloanHoffer then took the AA with a 39.2.
