Long-time Head Coach Miles Avery has resigned at Ohio State, effective immediately. Assistants Doug Stibel and Blaine Wilson will serve as interim head coaches for the remainder of the season. In addition to leading Ohio State for 13 years, and serving as an assistant between 1989 to 1997, he was the assistant coach to the US Men's Olympic Team in 96, 00, 04, and 08.

Four gymnasts have signed with the Minneosota Men's program for 2011-2012, during the early signing period. They are: Steve Jaciuk, Sean Bauer, Spencer Smith and Donnie Carper.
Jaciuk trains at the Swiss Turners. He placed 3rd AA and 1st on Rings at the 2009 Region IV Regionals, Junior Men's 14-15. He sat out his junior year with a back injury. Link: Recruiting Video

Nick Hunter has signed with Michigan, according to a site submission. He trains at Gymnastics World in Ohio. He placed 14th AA in the Junior Men's 16-18 division at the 2010 VISA Championships.

Maryland has announced the signing of Liz Garcia, Stephanie Giameo and Nicole Wright for 2011-2012. The commits for all three were covered in prior news item (with Wright reported as Heather Nicole Wright).

Illinois State has signed Riley Childress and Samantha King, according to a school release.
Childress is a L10 who trains at Gymstars in Tennessee. She qualified to the 2009 L10 Nationals in the Junior D division, after a 7th place finish at Regionals. Link: YouTube.com Channel
King is a L10 who trains at the Michigan Academy of Gymnastics. She last qualified to the L10 Nationals in 2007 and 2008, but has dealt with foot and elbow injuries the last two years.

Stanford (M) has announced the inking of two recruits to NLIs for 2011-2012, Brian Knott and Alex Strait.
Knott trains at NYC's Chelsea Piers club. He placed 20th AA at the 2010 JO Nationals.
Strait trains at Champions in Texas. He finished 9th AA, 4th HB and 4th(t) FX at the 2010 VISA Championships, Junior Men 16-18 division.

Michaela Woodford, L10 at Sun Country Gymnastics in Gainesville FL, has committed to North Carolina State University for the 2012-13 season. In 2010, she placed 1st on Beam and 1st Place in All-Around
at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She also placed 1st on Beam and 2nd All-Around at the Level 10 Florida State meet; and was a 2010 Regional Qualifier.
Missouri will welcome three athletes for 2011-2012, according to a school release. As previously reported, Colleen Mulcahy and Rachel Updike signed with the Tigers. In addition, Laura Kappler will walk-on. Kappler trains as a L10 at Revolution Gymnastics. She was 3rd AA, 3rd on BB and 5th on VT at the 2009 Level 9 Eastern Nationals.

Gina Costa, a L10 at Airborne (Santa Clara, CA) has committed to West Virginia, according to a site submission. In 2010, she placed 4th on UB and tied for 17th AA at the Region I L10 Regionals. In 2009, she tied for 29th AA and 8th on UB at the L10 Nationals.

Cami Guyer, L10 from Gymnastics East in Washington, and Kiley Field, L10 from Gold Coast Gymnastics in California, have signed with SJSU.
Riley Acton, L9 at 10.0 Gymnastics Academy in Massachusetts, has been accepted to Ursinus College where she will compete for the 2011-12 season. She placed in the top three AA at several of her meets last season and closed out her season with a 17th AA finish at regionals.
Heather Foley, L10 at M&M Gymnastics in Wisconsin, has committed to compete for Illinois. She she finished in the top 10 AA in all of meets through regionals last season, including AAd win at The Harley Davidson Invite (1st BB/FX) and Regionals (1st UB/BB). She finished 37th AA at JO Nationals.
