In a letter to athletes and their parents, Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard confirmed that "irreconcilable" internal conflicts between the coaching staff, the athletes and their parents drove the cancellation of the Cyclones' season.  The letter also claims that numerous "comparable" challenges have distinguished the gymnastics program over the years, adding fuel to the fears that the program will be cancelled entirely.  It also says the coaching staff has not been fired.  Because of the fact the head coach is still in place and the program is still intact, a special waiver would be required for the athletes to enter the transfer portal, except for the eligible seniors with remaining eligibility.  The letter was sent after the USA Today Sports Network went forward with a story on the real reasons driving the unprecedented cancellation of the remainder of the season.  Roughly at least half of the current roster appears to have reactivated their recruiting accounts, in preparation for the apparent portal opening, which would normally occur on March 30th.
