Canadian Championships Conclude

The Canadian Championships concluded with event finals for the men and the women's L10 16+ age group.

Although the Men competed for individual titles, they were really after the single slot to the Olympic Games.  After the meet, Scott Morgan, Jackson Payne and Rene Cournoyer were shortlisted for the final slot.  Morgan won FX and R, and was 2nd on VT.  Payne won PB and the AA.  Cournoyer had the top AA score during the event finals.  Minnesota's Justin Karstadt won the PH.  He was also 3rd on VT.  Fellow Gopher Joel Gangon was 4th on HB.  Cal's Aaron Mah was 2nd on HB, while PSU incoming frosh Samuel Zakutney was 2nd on PB and 3rd on HB.

The women's Level 10 16+ age group finals were also held, with Towson incoming frosh Melissa Temko who stayed consistent to take the title over Washington commit (2018) Madeline McLellan 37.425 to 37.35.  Temkov placed 2nd on FX, tied for 3rd on BB, 4th on VT and 6th on UB.  McLellan won VT and UB and tied for 5th on FX but fell on BB.  SJSU incoming frosh Taylor Chan won FX and placed 3rd on UB to take fourth AA (37.175).  Jessie Moody won the BB.  This is the first year Canada has switched to Level 10 rules, instead of the more FIG elite-like National Open program.
